Bristol student exposes the shocking truth of covert racism in UK schools
“We would always be treated like second class citizens”
Systemic racism, also known as institutional racism, is still very much prevalent in UK schools according to new research by YMCA.
And for one British student, the experience of hidden racism inside the educational system has left him deeply wounded and desperate for a change.
21-year-old Lincoln Brown from Bristol details his experience of institutionalised racism.
He said: “I was struggling to really find a balance in my general life, and a lot of the teachers would use that as an excuse to really belittle me — and turn me into something to be ashamed of.
“When all I was just trying to do was just try to be someone successful and really try to just master my craft and be good at it.”
